▲다낭성 난소증후군 치료=PCOS의 치료는 환자가 임신을 준비하고 있는지 여부에 따라 달라진다.- 임신을 준비하지 않을 경우 PCOS에 의한 만성 무배란은 자궁내막이형성(endometrial hyperplasia)의 위험이 있다. 이를 위해 에스트로겐-프로게스테론 피임약(COCs, estrogen-progestinoral contraceptives)으로 생리주기를 되찾아 자궁내막을 보호하려고 한다.- 임신을 준비하지 않았다면 비만의 경우 다이어트를 권장하며 고도 비만의 경우 비만 대사수술(위장의 크기를 줄이거나 소장에서 우회로를 만드는 각종 수술법; bariatric surgery)을 권장하기도 한다.-또한 배란유도제(크로미펜, clomiphene) 4cycle 사이 치료를 진행한다.- 단, 희소월경을 보이는 PCOS 환자의 경우에는 clomiphenecitrate에 앞서 letrozole을 먼저 권하기도 하나, 의료진은 반드시 letrozole이 PCOS 치료제로서 FDA에 의해 승인된 약이 아닌 다른 대체약(크로미펜)이 있음을 환자와 상의해야 한다.* 레트로졸(letrozole)은 본래 폐경 후 여성의 유방암 치료제이다.페마라(femara)라고도 한다.또 불임치료센터에서 침 치료를 부가적으로 권장하거나 IVF를 시도하는 여성에게 함께하기도 한다. 다만 침 치료의 단독 중재 및 크로미펜 병용이 live birth rates를 증가시킨다는 연구는 아직 없다.
